Plan and Execute Hazard Mitigation Operations
"Hazard assessment" is the process of identifying the hazards associated with a defined tasking order, attaching the
appropriate mitigation plans, prescribing personal protective equipment and other relevant protection measures which
must be employed to reduce the risk from the hazards.
Each defined Hazard must be accompanied by a detailed mitigation plan in order to fully address all necessary actions
that must be taken. Detailed planning helps to ensure the safest possible environment in which to perform emergency
response operations.
When protecting personnel as well as civilians the command staff must be fully aware of the majority of possible
hazards that exist in the area of operations. Only through careful planning and detailed collection of information
gathered from exercises and previous incidents can the incident commander be confident that many of the unexpected
events can be addressed with the highest degree of operational safety.
With the MetroTech Hazard Impact Analysis Tools planning staff are better able to organize the vast amounts of information
compiled in order to associate mitigation plans with potential hazards. This system represents the very latest in mobile
enterprise computing solutions tasked with planning, exercise, and operations.
- An Enterprise scale system used to collect and manage the information associated with potential hazards.
These can be determined in the field or prior to operations by planning staff.
- Each hazard is associated with one or more mitigation plans. Each plan details the steps necessary to fully mitigate the defined hazard.
- Hazards can be chained together in order to demonstrate the cascade of events and their relationships.
- A robust Assessment tool should be used during exercises to further refine each plan. This ensures that when deployed all possible events have been thought through.
